MSC Cancels February MSC Poesia Sailing From Southampton
MSC Cruises has canceled a voyage aboard MSC Poesia that was scheduled to depart from Southampton on February 13, 2026. In a message sent to guests with bookings, the company said the sailing will not take place due to “operational reasons.”
The cancellation comes as the ship was set to conclude its winter deployment in Northern Europe before repositioning to the Mediterranean. The planned 10-night itinerary included calls in Spain, Portugal, and Italy, with the cruise scheduled to end in Valletta, Malta.
“Regrettably, due to operational reasons affecting the deployment of the MSCPoesia, we have had to cancel the scheduled cruise,” MSC said.
“We fully understand the time and care you have invested in planning your holiday, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause,” the company added.
MSC confirmed that guests will receive a full refund of the cruise fare paid. The cruise line also said it will reimburse verified out-of-pocket expenses directly linked to the canceled sailing, including flights.
“In addition, as a gesture of goodwill, we are pleased to offer a Future Cruise Credit equal to 50 percent of the cruise fare paid for the cancelled sailing,” the statement said.
MSC Poesia is currently operating in Northern Europe, offering a series of seven-night itineraries calling at ports in England, Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Belgium.
The 2,550-passenger ship is next in MSC’s Musica class to undergo a major refurbishment. Following MSC Magnifica, the 2008-built vessel will enter drydock at the Palumbo Shipyard in Malta, where it will receive upgrades including the addition of MSC Yacht Club. The ship-within-a-ship concept will feature expanded suites as well as exclusive amenities such as a private restaurant, lounge, and pool deck.
Looking ahead to 2026, MSC Poesia is scheduled to mark the cruise line’s debut in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, sailing a summer season from Seattle.
