MSC Cruises has announced that MSC Lirica will now operate the itineraries originally planned for MSC Sinfonia during the 2025-2026 winter season. The update was shared in a letter to affected passengers, citing a broader redeployment of the fleet.

Ship Reassignment in the Eastern Mediterranean

As part of the new plan, MSC Lirica will sail in the Eastern Mediterranean from November 2025 through March 2026.

“Due to operational reasons affecting the deployment of some of our cruise ships, we have moved your cruise from the MSC Sinfonia to the MSC Lirica,” the company explained in its communication to booked guests.

“Onboard the MSC Lirica, you will experience a blend of timeless elegance and modern comfort at sea. This stylish ship offers inviting lounges, delicious dining options and lively entertainment for all ages,” the letter continued.

The company also emphasized the ship’s inviting atmosphere and highlighted features such as its spa, pool areas, and onboard theater.

New Destinations and Itineraries

With MSC Sinfonia now assigned to South American sailings, MSC Lirica will take over a set of cruises covering destinations in Italy, Greece, and Turkey.

The revised seven-night Eastern Mediterranean route will include stops in Istanbul, Izmir, Piraeus, Bari, and Corfu. The ship, launched in 2003, is expected to deliver a classic cruise experience tailored to a wide range of travelers.

Flexible Options for Booked Guests

“We know that you spent time planning the perfect cruise and we sincerely apologize for any disappointment that this might cause,” MSC added in its letter.

Passengers impacted by the change can choose to accept the new itinerary or transfer their reservation to any other cruise listed on MSC’s website.

“If you select this option, we will apply the price of the new cruise you select. You will need to cover any fare increase, while we will refund you the price difference if you choose a cheaper sailing,” MSC clarified.

Alternatively, guests may cancel their booking without penalty and receive a full refund.

“As our valued customer, we do not want this to get in the way of your vacation with us,” the cruise line concluded.
