NBOSCO Orders Four 2,700 TEU Ships from Huangpu Yard

Ningbo Ocean Shipping Co (NBOSCO) has chosen a shipbuilder for its newest batch of containerships, selecting Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding to construct four 2,700 TEU vessels.
The deal was awarded to the CSSC-owned shipyard following a competitive tender. The order supports NBOSCO’s ongoing fleet growth efforts, which were backed earlier this year by a $192 million investment plan announced by the Shanghai-listed subsidiary of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Group.
Huangpu Wenchong, located in Guangzhou, has been active in the market recently, also securing a contract from Turkish shipping company Arkas for four confirmed and two optional 3,100 TEU container vessels.
NBOSCO is currently ranked 24th on Alphaliner’s global list of top container carriers, operating a fleet of 86 vessels and holding 10 additional ships on order—figures that do not yet include the newly commissioned quartet.
The company’s most recent newbuilding move before this was in May 2024, when it ordered two fully electric 740 TEU feeder ships from Jiangsu Haitong.
