Passenger Arrested in Germany Before Boarding Queen Mary 2
Federal police in Germany detained a 37 year old woman on Monday after an exit check at the Bremerhaven container terminal revealed an outstanding arrest warrant.
The passenger, who was set to board the Queen Mary 2 for a sailing to Southampton, was flagged when officers found her information matched a warrant issued by the Wiesbaden public prosecutor’s office. The warrant stemmed from an unpaid fine related to a theft offense.
According to the Federal Police Inspectorate in Bremen, the woman owed €2,160 in fines and €84.50 in court fees. If unpaid, the penalty would have resulted in a 27 day prison term. She immediately paid the full amount.
After settling the outstanding balance, she was allowed to board the Queen Mary 2 and continue her holiday. The vessel is currently sailing a 26 day round trip itinerary through Norway themed around the Northern Lights.
