A 76-year-old woman from the United States was medically evacuated from the cruise ship Viking Sky off the coast of Mexico’s Michoacán state after injuring her leg, the Mexican Navy confirmed.

According to the navy, the operation was carried out by personnel from the Sixteenth Naval Zone together with the Naval Station of Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance (ENSAR). Authorities received a request to disembark a passenger who had fractured the femur in her left leg after falling onboard the vessel.

In response to the alert, an ENSAR Lázaro Cárdenas naval unit was immediately sent to the area. The vessel carried trained rescue personnel and Naval Health staff to carry out the evacuation.

After reaching the agreed rendezvous point with Viking Sky, naval medical teams evaluated the passenger and secured her on a stretcher for transfer. She was then transported safely to shore and handed over in stable condition to a Civil Protection ambulance.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for further specialized medical care. No additional information about her condition has been provided.
