Princess Cruises said that Alfredo’s Pizzeria aboard Sun Princess and StarPrincess has received the Ospitalità Italiana Certification, widely regarded as the highest international recognition for authentic Italian food and hospitality.

According to the company, the certification is granted only to restaurants that faithfully represent Italy’s culinary traditions and standards.

“Earning the Ospitalità Italiana Certification is a meaningful validation of our dedication to authentic Italian culinary excellence,” said Sami Kohen, vice president of food and beverage at Princess Cruises.

“As we celebrate National Pizza Day, we’re proud to recognize this achievement and our partnership with Chef Tony Gemignani to showcase how we bring our guests closer to the tastes, traditions and hospitality of Italy, one perfectly crafted pizza at a time.”

Alfredo’s Pizzeria offers made-to-order Neapolitan-style pizzas that are hand-stretched and baked in a stone Moretti Forni oven, using fresh ingredients and traditional preparation methods.

Princess Cruises works closely with Gemignani, a 13-time World Pizza Champion, who has developed five signature pizzas served throughout the company’s fleet of 17 ships. The menu features toppings such as Soppressata sausage, hot honey, Gorgonzola, and sweet fig preserves.

According to the company, the certification further supports Princess Cruises’ recognition by USA Today for offering the Best Pizza at Sea.

The announcement of the certification coincided with National Pizza Day on Feb. 9.
