Schulte Group Forms Joint Venture to Train Chinese Seafarers
The Schulte Group has partnered with Huayang Maritime Center and Haikou Xinhaina Port and Shipping Technology Co to establish a new joint venture on Hainan Island, located in southern China. Named BSM-HMC Maritime Services, the collaboration aims to develop a robust local network to train and nurture the next generation of Chinese seafarers.
“Together, not only will we be able to ensure the supply of highly trained Chinese crew to the Schulte Group’s owned and managed vessels, but also enhance the competitiveness of China’s seafarers in the global crew pool and provide more high-quality talent to the whole maritime industry,” stated Ian Beveridge, CEO of the Schulte Group.
Data from the Schulte Group highlights China’s significant contribution to the maritime workforce, ranking as the fourth-largest supplier of seafarers worldwide. Over the past decade, approximately 1.4 million Chinese seafarers have been deployed globally.
