TUI River Cruises has announced the launch of its second Nile River ship, the TUI Bahareya, which officially began sailing from Luxor.

A special blessing ceremony was held onboard to mark the occasion, featuring a traditional “Prayer to Hapi”—a ritual honoring the ancient Egyptian god of the Nile—to ensure safe and successful journeys for the vessel.

Katy Berzins, Head of TUI River Cruises, said: “The maiden voyage of TUIBahareya marks a significant addition to the TUI River Cruises fleet.” She added, “After a successful first winter season, TUI Al Horeya, we’re pleased to be launching the second ship on the River Nile, allowing more river cruisers to experience the wonders in Egypt.”

According to TUI’s press release, the ship’s pool was adorned with rose petals and LED candles, while guests received engraved alabaster plaques sourced locally to commemorate the ship’s first season. The celebration included cocktails, canapés, traditional Whirling Dervish performances, a saxophonist, and live entertainment from the cruise line’s onboard team.

The newly refurbishedTUI Bahareya will now operate seven-night, all-inclusive roundtrip sailings from Luxor, joining its sister ship, the *TUI Al Horeya,* on the Nile.

Designed to accommodate 142 passengers, the ship features 72 cabins, including French Balcony and Superior French Balcony options. Licensed Egyptologists will accompany guests on every sailing, sharing expert insights into Egypt’s ancient history.

TUI River Cruises is offering a seven-night “Ancient Gods and Famous Pharaohs” itinerary from Luxor starting at £1,239 per person, based on two adults sharing a Deck 2 Superior French Balcony cabin on an all-inclusive basis.

The cruise will visit Luxor, Kom Ombo, Aswan, and Edfu, with fares covering TUI Airways flights from London Gatwick or Manchester to Luxor on December 16, 2025, as well as 25kg of luggage per person, transfers, tips, and service charges.
