Anthem of the Seas returned to service in Sydney on Friday after being out of operation for ten days.

The Royal Caribbean vessel is currently sailing a winter program in Australia, but its previous voyage was cancelled due to a technical problem. In a statement released in late January, the company said the cancellation was required to carry out essential maintenance work.

The 4,204-guest ship has now resumed operations with a seven-night itinerary to Queensland, which includes an overnight stay in Airlie Beach. The sailing also features four days at sea in the South Pacific.

As part of its ongoing regional deployment, Anthem is scheduled to offer cruises ranging from two to 12 nights, calling at destinations such as Tasmania, the South Pacific Islands, New Zealand, and others.

The cancelled sailing was due to depart Sydney on January 27, 2026. The roundtrip, ten-night cruise was planned to visit five ports in New Zealand. The 2015-built ship was also set to include scenic cruising in Fjordland National Park before returning to Sydney.

Guests affected by the cancellation received a full refund of their cruise fare, along with a 25 percent Future Cruise Credit for use on a new Royal Caribbean booking. In addition, the company reimbursed non-refundable travel costs already paid, including expenses for flights, hotels, train tickets, and rental cars.

AIS tracking data shows that Anthem of the Seas spent the past ten days undergoing maintenance while docked at the port of Eden in Australia.

After completing its Australian winter season, the ship is scheduled to reposition in mid-April ahead of a summer deployment in Alaska. There, she will join Ovation of the Seas and Serenade of the Seas, offering seven-night cruises departing from Seattle.

The vessel is expected to return to Australia in November 2026 for a second season based in Sydney.
