Asiatic Lloyd has once again turned to its preferred Chinese shipyard for a new round of containership construction, commissioning two conventionally fueled boxships from Dalian Shipbuilding.

According to brokers, the German-owned shipping company has placed an order for two 7,100 TEU vessels, following a similar deal made just six weeks earlier for another pair of ships at the same yard.

Industry sources, including Alphaliner, report that the latest vessels—each valued at around $91 million—are scheduled for delivery in late 2027 and early 2028. Upon completion, both ships will enter long-term charter agreements with Hapag-Lloyd.

The company already operates six vessels of the SDARI Sealion 7100 design, all constructed at Dalian between 2023 and 2024.

Headquartered jointly in Singapore and Hamburg, Asiatic Lloyd is part of the Bunnemann family’s AL Group, which also maintains business interests across the tanker, car carrier, and dry bulk sectors.
