Carnival Cruise Line has teamed up with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream to debut a one-of-a-kind sunscreen-flavored ice cream.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Carnival wrote: “In protest of summer ending, we’ve decided to eat our sunscreen! In partnership with @vanleeuwenicecream, we’ve created the first-ever sunscreen ice cream.”

The quirky flavor is meant as a playful tribute to the scent of summer and to ease what Carnival calls the “End-of-Summer Scaries,” that mix of nostalgia and reluctance as the sunny season fades.

While it might sound unusual, the creamy recipe includes familiar ingredients such as cream, coconut cream, milk, cane sugar, egg yolks, cocoa butter, natural flavors, vanilla extract, and sea salt.

For now, the sunscreen ice cream won’t be available for purchase. Instead, the two brands are encouraging fans to share their reactions online. If the response is strong enough, a limited edition release may follow.
