Costa Fortuna Launches Summer Voyages From Piraeus

The Costa Fortuna has officially begun its summer cruise season in the Eastern Mediterranean, following a spring schedule in the Canary Islands and parts of Western Europe. The vessel arrived at its seasonal base in Piraeus on June 13, 2025, where it will operate a series of weeklong itineraries.
Itineraries Through Greece and Turkey
Now sailing from both Piraeus and Istanbul, the Costa Fortuna offers seven-night cruises that highlight popular Greek island destinations. Passengers can expect stops in Santorini, Rhodes, Heraklion, Kos, and Mykonos. A standout feature of these cruises is the ship’s extended stay in Piraeus, with departures scheduled as late as 11:00 PM, giving travelers more time to explore Athens.
Seasonal Transitions and Future Plans
The 103,000-gross-ton ship will continue sailing in the region until late September, when it transitions to the Western Mediterranean for autumn voyages. These include two-week-long cruises departing from ports in Spain, France, and Italy.
In December, the Fortuna will relocate once again to the Canary Islands, offering winter cruises from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. These itineraries will also include calls at Funchal, on Portugal’s Madeira Island. This deployment continues through early April 2026.
Departure From Costa Fleet and New Ownership
Following its 2026 Mediterranean farewell, the vessel is set to exit the Costa Cruises fleet after being sold to Margaritaville at Sea. The ship, which entered service in 2003 and accommodates up to 2,720 guests, joins the former Costa Classica and Costa Atlantica as part of the brand’s expansion.
Plans for the ship include a major refit to incorporate Margaritaville’s distinctive branding and venues. Upon completion, the Fortuna will serve as the company’s third U.S.-based homeport vessel, expected to begin operations in late 2026.
