Ferry and Tanker Collide off Singapore, No Injuries Reported
A collision occurred off Singapore’s Southern Islands on November 10 between the Singapore-flagged ferry Horizon 9 and the Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker La Digue. According to authorities, all 165 passengers and seven crew members aboard the ferry were unharmed, and the incident had no impact on regional navigation.
The accident took place at around 5 p.m. local time as the 39-meter-long ferry was heading toward HarbourFront Centre. Upon collision with the oil tanker, the incident was immediately reported to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), which dispatched a response vessel to assist.
No injuries were recorded among the crews or passengers of either ship. While the La Digue sustained no damage, the Horizon 9 experienced minor damage to its bow above the waterline but remained fully operational.
An MPA vessel quickly arrived at the site and escorted the ferry back to HarbourFront Centre, where all passengers and crew safely disembarked.
Authorities confirmed that the collision was an isolated event and did not disrupt port operations or shipping traffic in the area. The MPA has since launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.
