On November 1, China’s Guangzhou Port successfully carried out its first Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) for liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering, marking a major step forward in the port’s ongoing green development efforts.

The operation took place aboard the Liberian-flagged containershipMSC Thais, which was docked at the Nansha Phase III Container Terminal. During the process, approximately 3,000 cubic metres of bonded LNG were transferred from the bunkering vesselHai Yang Shi You 301 to the containership, while cargo handling activities were carried out at the same time.

Dai Tinglei, Director of the Dispatch Command Centre of Guangzhou Port Co, described the achievement as a significant advancement in the port’s bunkering capabilities, noting that it expands LNG bunkering options “from offshore to onshore,” ensuring comprehensive LNG refueling services across Guangzhou Port.
