The Yemeni port of Hodeidah was struck by a series of Israeli air raids on September 16, following an evacuation warning issued by the Israel Defence Force (IDF). No casualties or damage to vessels were reported immediately after the attack.

According to reports, 12 airstrikes hit the port over a 10-minute period. The evacuation advisory, delivered by IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee, urged civilians and merchant ships to clear the area ahead of the strikes.

The bombardment is said to have targeted three docks that had previously been repaired after an earlier Israeli strike at the same location.

The IDF explained the operation was carried out in retaliation for continued Houthi drone and missile attacks against Israel. Israeli officials have also accused the Houthis of using Hodeidah to receive Iranian weapon shipments. Defence Minister Israel Katz added that the strikes were intended to ensure the continuation of both maritime and air blockades against the group.
