MSC Enters Ukrainian Logistics with Strategic Acquisitions

Medlog, the inland logistics arm of global shipping giant Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC), has made a significant move into the Ukrainian logistics sector.
According to reports from local media, Swiss-based Medlog has acquired a 50% stake in N’UNIT (New Ukrainian Network of Intermodal Terminals), a major intermodal logistics operator in Ukraine. Additionally, the company has purchased a 25% share in the cross-border freight terminal at Mostyska.
The deal was made with Yegor Grebennikov, a prominent Ukrainian businessman and co-owner of the TIS Group, who also founded N’UNIT. Following the transaction, Grebennikov will retain 50% ownership of N’UNIT and 25% of the Mostyska terminal. The remaining 50% of Mostyska remains under the control of Lemtrans, a logistics firm connected to Ukrainian billionaire Rinat Akhmetov.
N’UNIT currently operates four intermodal terminals located in key regions: Vyshneve (near Kyiv), Kharkiv, Dnipro, and the Lviv area. The Mostyska terminal holds strategic importance for cross-border rail transport between Ukraine and Poland.
The acquisition, first reported by Forbes Ukraine, is estimated to be worth between $15 million and $30 million. It represents the first publicly disclosed purchase by a major international logistics company of Ukrainian railway freight infrastructure since the beginning of the full-scale conflict in Ukraine.
This move positions Medlog to play a significant role in strengthening regional logistics and enhancing MSC’s presence in Eastern Europe’s overland cargo network.
