MSC Meraviglia postponed its departure from New York City because of unfavorable weather conditions in the area, according to a statement shared with guests.

The MSC Cruises ship was set to begin a Bahamas and Florida itinerary, originally scheduled to sail from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal on Sunday, February 1, 2026. The seven-night cruise was planned to include stops in Nassau, Port Canaveral, and Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.

Captain Maurizio Ruggiero informed guests that the crew made the decision to delay departure until the morning of Monday, February 2, 2026. He explained that the adjustment was necessary due to forecasted weather along the ship’s route and was made to protect the safety and comfort of both passengers and crew.

“Due to these weather-related changes and our delayed departure from New York, we’ll now arrive in Port Canaveral on Wednesday, Feb. 4, instead of Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026,” he said.

“We can therefore offer you an extended stay in Port Canaveral, allowing more time to enjoy what this destination has to offer,” Ruggiero added.

MSC noted that shore excursions booked through the cruise line for Port Canaveral will be automatically rescheduled to match the updated arrival. However, the captain also confirmed that the ship will no longer call at Ocean Cay.

“Regrettably, we must cancel our scheduled call to Ocean Cay. This decision was made with your safety and comfort as our top priority,” Ruggiero stated.

The private island visit had originally been scheduled for Wednesday, February 4.

“We understand that any unexpected changes to your itinerary can be disappointing, and we want to assure you that this decision was made with your safety as our top priority,” the statement continued.

“Although this adjustment is due to circumstances beyond our control, we want to express our sincere appreciation for your understanding and patience,” Ruggiero said.

All MSC-sponsored excursions for Ocean Cay will be cancelled and automatically refunded to guests’ onboard accounts.
