Norwegian Cruise Line has notified guests of a change to the upcoming Norwegian Gem sailing departing Jacksonville on January 20, 2026. In a statement, the cruise line said the ship will spend less time at its private island, Great Stirrup Cay, in order to deliver “the best overall guest experience.”

The voyage is part of the ship’s inaugural season sailing from Jacksonville and features a 12-night itinerary to the Eastern Caribbean and the Bahamas.

“As part of our commitment to delivering a seamless experience, we’ve made an adjustment to the itinerary,” Norwegian said.

“While we are always working to bring your dream vacation to life, there are times when a slight adjustment helps ensure a more efficient operation, resulting in the best overall guest experience,” the company added.

Under the revised schedule, Norwegian Gem will now arrive at Great Stirrup Cay at 7:00 a.m., one hour earlier than originally planned. The ship will also depart the island sooner, leaving at 3:00 p.m. instead of the previously scheduled 5:00 p.m.

“This change allows all guests visiting our recently enhanced private island on Jan. 22, 2026, to enjoy a smoother, more relaxed and enjoyable day ashore,” Norwegian said.

All other ports of call on the itinerary remain unchanged, with the cruise still set to visit six additional destinations. Following its departure from Jacksonville and the call at Great Stirrup Cay, the Norwegian Gem will sail to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, and Philipsburg in St. Maarten.

The itinerary also includes stops in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas, and San Juan in Puerto Rico.

Norwegian Gem arrived in Jacksonville in late October for Norwegian Cruise Line’s first-ever homeporting season at the port.

Built in 2007, the 93,000-ton vessel is scheduled to operate a range of four- to 12-night cruises from Jacksonville through early April.
