Port Tarragona has concluded its 2025 cruise season with 62 ship calls and a total of 126,348 passengers. The port confirmed that 2025 ranks as its third strongest season, surpassed only by 2024 and 2019.

Transit calls accounted for 88 percent of activity, while 12 percent of visits were turnarounds. September and October saw the highest traffic, each recording 12 cruise calls.

In a press release, the port announced that 2026 is projected to set a new record, with 79 calls expected. Passenger numbers are forecast to reach approximately 155,000.

The anticipated growth is attributed largely to increased luxury cruise activity. Viking, in particular, plans to expand from three calls in 2025 to 17 calls in 2026, bringing an estimated 34,800 guests. According to Port Tarragona, this will represent about 22 percent of all passengers next year.

MSC is also increasing its presence, rising from 25 calls in 2025 to 32 calls in 2026, though it will deploy a smaller ship for its operations.
