Princess Cruises has outlined a series of significant changes to the Rooms Division across its fleet, introducing new roles and performance-based incentives designed to support career development and strengthen onboard teams. In a letter shared with crew members, the company said the transition will continue through 2026 and emphasized that staff will receive guidance throughout the process.

New Leadership Roles to Support Career Progression

Several newly created positions aim to enhance daily operations and open clearer advancement pathways:

Senior Assistant Rooms Division Manager – Sphere Class
A new leadership role exclusive to Sphere Class ships. Applications are currently open, with the position scheduled to be introduced in early 2026.

Assistant Laundry Master – Sphere & Royal Class
This added role creates a structured advancement route for laundry personnel aspiring to become Laundry Masters. Recruitment has begun, and hiring is expected in the first half of 2026.

Manning and Complement Adjustments Fleetwide

Princess Cruises will adjust staffing levels on select ships to improve consistency and operational flow:

Coral Princess will gain an additional Rooms Division Supervisor to better align its leadership structure with the rest of the fleet.

• Laundry staffing will be reduced by one position across most vessels, except on Island Princess and Coral Princess. The company stressed that no existing contracts will be shortened.

Further refinements will reshape day-to-day responsibilities:

Junior Stateroom Stewards
The number of junior positions will decrease, and linen valet duties will be removed so they can focus exclusively on officers’ and fleet cabins.

Rooms Division Attendants
Additional roles will be added, and these crew members will now take on linen valet responsibilities.

Stateroom Stewards
High performers will see expanded promotion opportunities.

All structural changes across the fleet are expected to be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2026.

New Incentive System Focused on Guest Satisfaction

Princess Cruises is rolling out a performance-based recognition program for Stateroom Stewards, directly tied to guest feedback metrics.

Monthly Performance Incentive
Stewards who place in the top 12% for:
• “Stateroom Steward Service,” and
• “Stateroom Cleanliness” (OBE NPS scores)
will earn a monthly bonus.

Updated Points System for Suite and Sanctuary Assignments

Access to the highest-earning cabin sections - Suites and the Sanctuary Collection - will now be awarded through a weighted point system based on NPS service and cleanliness scores. Crew with consistently strong results will receive priority placement. A new dashboard will help ensure transparency and ongoing tracking.

The new incentive and assignment programs will first be tested on Star Princess and Sky Princess, with a gradual expansion across the fleet starting in March.
