Carnival Sunshine to Make Cruise Line’s First Africa Calls
Carnival Cruise Line is set to include African destinations for the first time during its Mediterranean summer program in 2027. In a press release, the company confirmed that Carnival Sunshine will be its first ship to visit the continent, with scheduled calls in Tunisia and Morocco.
These ports will be featured on a selection of Mediterranean itineraries ranging from seven to ten nights and with sailings planned for June and September 2027, one of the featured itineraries operates roundtrip from Barcelona, Spain.
The eight-night cruise includes stops in Italy, Tunisia, and France, with visits to La Goulette, Naples, Palermo, Ajaccio, and Marseille. Carnival Sunshine will also call at Tangier, Morocco, during its transatlantic voyage back to North America.
That 13-night repositioning sailing departs Barcelona in mid-October and continues to Miami, with additional calls in Spain and the Cayman Islands, including Alicante, Málaga, and Grand Turk.
Carnival said the ship’s European summer deployment was designed to allow for back-to-back vacation options, covering destinations across Italy, Spain, France, Turkey, Montenegro, Tunisia, and Morocco. The program features more than 15 sailings, departing from Barcelona, Civitavecchia, and Dover.
Running from May through October 2027, the season also includes a special solar eclipse cruise that will position the ship within the path of maximum visibility for the celestial event occurring in August 2027.
Following its European deployment, Carnival Sunshine will reposition to Galveston, where it will operate a series of four- and ten-night Caribbean cruises.
Carnival Cruise Line is also expanding its European presence in 2027 by doubling its fleet in the region. Alongside Carnival Sunshine, Carnival Miracle is scheduled to offer itineraries in both the Mediterranean and Northern Europe during the summer season.
